I built it in soft, blended layers - strong in the center where the orange and warm white collide, then thin and washed out at the edges where the deep blue-grey takes over. That's what gives it depth, it feels like it's still moving even with a smooth surface.
The blue isn't just background. It's that deep stormy navy that makes the orange actually burn. Without it, orange would be just happy and flat. With it, it has tension - warmth trying to break through something cold. That's why people stop on it.
